Apple iOS 11 is Here!

Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 11, is now available for download. For those of you who are using an iPhone 5s and up, iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and up, 2017 iPad, and 6thgeneration iPod touch, it’s time to head on to your settings menu and check for an update.

As with most updates, iOS 11 is available over the air. Just open the Settings app on your compatible iOS device, tap on General, followed by Software Update. The iOS 11 update should be available and it’s a big file, so do ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi before you hit that download button. For those of you who signed up to be a public beta tester for iOS 11 GM, you are already running on the latest version.

So what’s new on iOS 11? The most obvious would definitely have to be the new Control Center, a new Files app, and the brand new App Store. Apple also improved Siri, bringing a new male voice, live translation, and more. Other notable changes include the ability to edit your Live Photos from the Photos app and select the Key Photo you like, the ability to screenshot and edit the image immediately, Screen Recording without the need of a computer, one hand keyboard that pushes the entire keyboard to the left or right side of the screen, a new “Do Note Disturb While Driving” safety feature that blocks notifications when the user is driving, and more.

The most obvious changes would definitely have to be for the iPad. iOS 11 brings major improvements to Apple’s tablet, bringing it one step closer to replacing your laptop. Touted as “A giant step for iPhone. A monumental leap for iPad”, iOS 11 brings a new Dock at the bottom of your iPad’s screen, better multitasking capability, improved drag and drop feature, makes more use of the Apple Pencil, a new Document Scanner in Notes, and many more. Check out Apple’s video that shows of iOS 11 on the iPad.
