Here are 10 Apple products that are expected to be discontinued next week

Apple’s annual iPhone event is set for September 9th, where the iPhone 16, new AirPods, and updated Apple Watch models are expected to be unveiled. However, the launch of new products typically means the discontinuation of older ones. Here are some Apple products that may no longer be available on the Apple Store following the event.

iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max
Since the introduction of the iPhone XS and XR in 2018, Apple has consistently discontinued flagship models just a year after their release. This trend is expected to continue, which means the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple’s first iPhones with titanium, are likely to be phased out. Additionally, these could be the last Pro models with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, as the iPhone 16 Pro lineup is rumored to feature larger screens. The unique Blue Titanium color of the iPhone 15 Pro is also unlikely to carry over to the next generation.

iPhone 14 Plus
The iPhone 14 Plus, Apple’s first entry-level large iPhone, was introduced following the less successful iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini. Featuring a 6.7-inch display and long battery life, it offered a more affordable alternative to the Pro Max models. However, similar to the discontinuation of the iPhone 13 mini last year, the iPhone 14 Plus may also be removed from the lineup, with the standard iPhone 14 remaining available for a bit longer.

iPhone 13
Launched in 2021, the iPhone 13 brought several enhancements, including improved battery life, a new camera system, and a smaller notch. Initially priced at $799, it has since been reduced to $599. As it nears its third anniversary, the iPhone 13 could be discontinued, with the iPhone 14 taking over its price point until the anticipated release of the iPhone SE 4.

Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 2
Next week, we might see updates across all three Apple Watch models. The Series 10 is rumored to feature larger, more efficient displays, a thinner design, and potentially a new chipset. The Ultra 3 may receive a minor upgrade, and the SE 3 is expected to shift to a plastic casing for a lower price. If these updates occur, Apple is likely to discontinue the current Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 2 models.

AirPods 2 and AirPods 3
Apple has been offering AirPods 2 as an entry-level option since 2019. Despite the introduction of AirPods 3 in 2021, which came with features like Spatial Audio and improved sound quality, the AirPods 2 remained in the lineup. This is expected to change with the introduction of AirPods 4 next week, which will include an entry-level trim to replace AirPods 2 and a mid-tier trim to replace AirPods 3, likely with added noise cancellation. Consequently, both AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 are expected to be discontinued.

iPad mini 6 and iPad 10
Next week, updates to two of Apple’s more affordable iPads, the iPad mini 6 and iPad 10, are anticipated. Despite a recent price cut for the iPad 10, a refresh is rumored to be on the way. While there’s a chance that the iPad 10 might stay on at a lower price, it seems unlikely. As for the iPad mini, Apple has not typically kept older models around, so it is also expected to be discontinued. The new model may feature enhanced storage, support for Apple Intelligence, and possibly compatibility with the Apple Pencil Pro.

If you’re considering purchasing any of these products, it might be wise to wait until after next week’s Apple event.
